Enjoy My View

It never ceases to amaze me when the train goes over the Manhattan Bridge......people are scrambling for their phones to see who text them, who and what’s on Facebook, or to just make that call to tell whoever, they’ll be home soon.

Myself, I seem to be drawn to what’s outside the window. Sometimes that window is so filthy you can barely see through it, (as you can see in the photo)…but that never stops me from wanting to see, what new things I can see.

I’ve been taking a train, that runs over the Manhattan Bridge for most of my working life. I’m never bored by the view. It’s like reading a great new book, every day.

I hope you enjoy my view.

Cell Hell!

Maybe it's just me, but I like the solitude and escape from cell phone communications, while I'm on the train. I do find it quite pathetic when, as soon as the train goes above-ground, like the bridge or elevated tracks, people are scrambling for their phones. What is so goddamn important, that you have to call or text ASAP? Probably nothing!

I know I shouldn't say this, but I remember once being at my Pops house, and my sister called to tell her daughter she's down the block and should be home in 5 minutes. What was the point of that call? Just come home!

Remember when, we waited till we got home to make that important call?  Remember when we had an answering machine, and someone left a message? I'm not sure I like being reachable 24/7.

I dunno....maybe I just like the sound of the train, and the bums asking for money. Maybe, I just don't wanna hear a phone call...."I'll be home in five minutes". Call me old fashioned. I truly hope the MTA never installs WiFi/Cell access. It's my last little reprieve....where can I go next?
